Lessons I've learned
I try to recognize the lessons life teaches me, large and small, gleening fundamental bits of wisdom that will serve me well throughout life. When I recognize these lessons, it's generally distilled down to the form of a proverb, or some famous quote, or some rhyming phrase. That's because countless others have learned the same lessons and the eloquent have already done a fair job of putting the ideas into language. So, anyway, here's a list of stuff I want to remember crossed my mind at some point in life.
- Pay off your highest percentage credit first.
- Old people's brains contain a lot of interesting or useful information, most of which they're willing to give you.
- A todo list will always have stuff on it.
- If you don't talk, nobody knows you're stupid.
- Think before you speak.
- The brain can be conciously programmed, much like any computer. User level code (the cerebral cortex) is easier to hack than system level (the mammalian part) or BIOS (reptile) code.
- Losing your cool usually means you're losing the debate.
