When the first issue of Oblivion came out, we had no idea there would be such a demand for it. Because of the "confiscation incident," issues were in low quanity and high demand. It's kind of ironic that Olympia High School seemingly wanted to discourage us and stop people from seeing Oblivion, but in reality, we became more dedicated and thousands of people around the world wrote to us with words of encouragement. This incident has done a lot for Oblivion. It was recognized, and taken, by the Administration.
This issue has taken quite some time to release. There are many reasons for this. The aforementioned "confiscation incident" is one of them. We also had some organizational problems and communication problems between people who should not have said problems. Hopefully, these our only a result of our newborn status, and the overwhelming response we received. The foundation is settling, and these problems should be avoided in the future.
As of now, Oblivion costs $50 to print one hundred issues. We have been actively looking for ways to come up with funding and/or cut printing costs, and the last thing we want to do is charge for Oblivion. We are not just a bunch of kids who want to make money, we are here to spread information to people around the world. We don't plan on making money (we actually plan on losing money each month), but we would like to cut down on the amount of money we lose. We have been thinking of ways to cut costs, and we have come up with a few.
Individuals could make copies and give them out and possibly take up a collection for the printing costs. This would be great for us. You could spread them around your region without costing us large sums of money (although it may cost you some). If you would like a copy of Oblivion sent to you, please send two stamps and a mailing address to the address seen throughout this 'zine.
There are few places that we can say for sure will have Oblivion. You won't find them on our school campus anymore. They can be found at The Danger Room in Olympia, WA and on our web site (http://www.olywa.net/oblivion/). The easiest place to find Oblivion will probably be on the Internet, so unless you really want a paper issue, you should try there. As of now, the web version is lacking the art which is contained in the paper version, but we are working on that.
If you have any ideas, suggestions, donations, articles, letters, or anything else you feel might be relevant, send them to us. If you work at copy place and can get us free or discounted copies, please let us know!
